Galactic Space Travel Dead?

Virgin Galactic, what was to be the world's first cruise ship to the stars seems to be calling quits. You can read the story here. As a fan of Science Fiction, fantasy and space operas I have always imagined other worlds and what it would be like to visit them. We've accomplished so much in technology over that past few decades, but it seems that our space program is sputtering and our drive to boldly go where no one has gone before is almost non existent. I for one hopes that some one, some day picks this touch up and runs with it. What do you all think? Will we see space travel for the masses in our lifetime?
